Christmas and New Year 2025.
Christmas Eve - 4pm. Our (now traditional) telling of the Nativity story 'The Well Good Nativity' - this is interactive and fun, with a host of lovely carols to steer the story along. We welcome any children (or adults) to come dressed as a Nativity character and take part in the story. We aren't providing Christingle Oranges this year as it seems an awful waste of food when people are genuinely struggling. We will, however, gather in a circle at the end of the story to sing our blessing to candle light.
Christmas Eve - 11.30pm. The 1st Holy Communion of Christmas. This is a wonderful way to welcome Christmas Day and centre our thinking on why we celebrate, the birth of Jesus. This service is also commonly called Midnight Mass, though it actually begins at 11.30pm.
Christmas Day - 9.00am. Our said Book of Common Prayer holy Communion. No carols at this service but a lovely reflective start to the day.
Christmas Day - 10.00am. Celebrating Christmas. This service of Holy Communion is slightly less formal, though no less sincere. We remind ourselves that Christmas is about a person, Jesus. Come and join in the celebration of his birth.
Sunday 28th December
9.00am. BCP Holy Communion
10.00am. Morning Prayer
New Years Eve - 4.00pm. A quiet service. We first held this service last year as an opportunity for anybody to drop in and find a safe quiet space to reflect on the year past, to ponder the year ahead, to remember loved ones far away or those who have died, and to draw close to God and know his peace and love. Some nice carols to help us worship and a chance to offer a thought or prayer on a prayer card that can be placed on the prayer tree.
